Devizes Good Afternoon Choir are set to stage a concert at the Corn Exchange in Devizes on Saturday, October 24, to raise money for the families affected by the Nepal Earthquake.

The choir was started by conductor Grenville Jones in 2011 and meets every Friday afternoon at St Andrew’s Church in Long Street, Devizes, from 2pm-4pm.

There are more than 120 members in the choir, and the event will include special guests, Pewsey Belles, a choir of 30 ladies to add some swing to the occasion.

The Pewsey Belles are directed by Jules Addison and are building a growing reputation for the quality of their performances.

Grenville Jones leads a number of choirs including the famous Last Choir Standing and Bath Male Choir. He is also a founder of the Golden Oldies Charity which brings songs and smiles to hundreds of older people across England and Wales.

Apart from all of his musical activities and charity work, Mr Jones has had his first novel, called Deep Harmony, published on Amazon Kindle. The novel is based around a choir and the life and love of the Verlis Singers who originate from Cornwall.

The concert at the Corn Exchange starts at 7.30pm and tickets are now on sale from Mr Jones’ office on (01761) 472468.
