CROWDS gathered for the annual Corsham Flower Show on Sunday to see the range of flowers, vegetables and crafts on display on Sunday (August 27).

Judges were given the difficult task of choosing winners in 182 different classes, ranging from flowers and vegetables to art, cookery, handicrafts and photography. There was also a category for children to enter.

The town’s Springfield Community Campus was full of visitors all afternoon who wanted to see for themselves the items on display.

The show is organised by the Corsham Gardener’s Society. Secretary Maureen Cundict said the group was pleased with the impressive turn out.

“It went very well,” she said. “We were all pleased as the hall seemed to be full all afternoon. We hope that everyone enjoyed it.”

Corsham Gardener’s Society has been hosting the event, which allows people to show off their hard work, for about 50 years.

The displays included hand-made crafts, as well as flower arrangements, and an array of vegetables.

Official judges were brought in to select winners from each class, judging them on either size, uniformity, or quality, and the quality of work and how many hours had been put in.

Prizes were up for grabs in every class and the winners walked away with trophies and shields and a share of the £500 in prize money that was split between the classes.

Money raised from entrance fees goes towards funding Corsham Gardener’s Society.

The group holds monthly meetings and also organises day trips for members.
