A MOTHER and daughter duo are celebrating the success of their child friendly cafe in Corsham one year on from first opening the unique business, which has captivated the minds of parents in the area.

Originally set up by nurses Frances Tristam and Anna Mestre in December 2015 for parents to spend some time with their children in a safe and unassuming environment, the Camomile Cafe based in the High Street has gone from strength to strength.

"We opened at the beginning of December 2015 and it has been great," Mrs Tristam said. "We get a lot of feedback from the parents who come to us which is wonderful.

"Anna and I are both nurses and before she went on maternity leave we talked about where we could go without being tutted at for a child's tantrum and there were very few places so we decided to set up our own.

"We don't charge an entrance fee like some other cafes do, we just ask that people try to spend a minimum of £5 so they have got something for their money and it helps us to stay open. It is unique and we have people who come up from Bath because there is nothing at all like it."

The cafe, which provides a safe space for people with young children to have a coffee, also offers a number of activities, such as the infamous chaos room, pregnancy and relaxation courses and a shop area for stay-at-home mums to sell their wares.

She added: "We are constantly thinking about how we can change things and how we can make things better here."
