SHAVING for charity is not a usual fundraising activity but the chairman of the Wiltshire Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes, along with fellow members, have raised £2,145 doing just that.

Grand primo or chairman Craig Atkinson, 49, of Corsham, shaved off his 20-year-old moustache to raise money for Dorothy House after he chose the hospice as their charity of choice this year.

Mr Atkinson said: “The money was collected through the lodges in the area but I also did a sponsored moustache cut.

“I had had it for about 20 years and I used to twirl it at the end but I got it cut off in October and then used the excuse of Movember to grow it back again.

“It is for a good cause and I am a little bald on top but I always knew it would grow back.

“Dorothy House do a fantastic job and we here at the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes like to give back to the local community.

“As grand primo you can say that we are going to have a fund and it is for any charity I choose.

“So I chose Dorothy House. I know people who have used it and they do a great job. They are a local charity and I could be using it sometime in the future myself.”
