PUPILS at Heywood Prep took a step back in time last week to explore thousands of years of history with a series of workshops and activities.

Every class was given a time period and staff and youngsters at the Corsham school all dressed up as cavemen, medieval knights and Trojan warriors for the off-curriculum day organised by Friends of Heywood.

It kicked off with a play, performed by parents about two Heywood Prep pupils who found a 'magic clock' that sent them back in time learning about all the different ages, meeting Queen Victoria, Christopher Columbus and cavemen along the way. The final stop on their tour was prehistoric times where they met 'dinosaurs'.

They also explored other time periods including The Ice Age and Ancient Egypt and had a dance workshop on 1940s and 1970s dance routines and ended the day with as Victorian tea party.

Headmaster Guy Barrett said: “What an amazing day, and a terrific opportunity for the children.

“My staff were fantastic as always, preparing and delivering exciting and engaging learning activities and we are so grateful to the parents who put so much effort into transforming the school.

“We often talk about the strength of the Heywood community, and this sort of collaborative effort demonstrates it perfectly.”
