Pupils from Corsham and Chippenham put their footballing skills to the test during a match competing for a place in the finals at Chelsea Football Club.
The Going for Goals competition, which took place at Springfield Community Campus last week, was organised by Wiltshire Council in partnership with Chelsea Football Club Foundation and is the first of several taking place across Wiltshire.
On Tuesday last week, Year 5 and 6 pupils from Corsham Primary School, St Patrick’s Catholic Primary in Corsham and St Mary’s Catholic Primary in Chippenham received training from Chelsea FC foundation coaches.
They also heard a recorded message from football legend Sir Geoff Hurst, who helped bring England to victory during the 1966 World Cup Final.
After a tough-fought set of matches it was the pupils from St Mary’s who claimed victory.
On March 15 they will head to Chelsea FC training ground in Cobham, Surrey, to compete in the final against other pupils from the county.
