CHILDREN and their families were left egg-static as they took a trip to Wonderland and joined the Mad Hatter and his friends for an Easter themed event in Chippenham.

The free event attracted hundreds of people including plenty of children dressed in Alice in Wonderland attire and other costumes.

Organised by the Chippenham BID, a number of activates were available for families to try on Saturday (April 15) including face painting, balloon modelling and themed games in the Borough Parade Shopping Centre.

Simon Philpott, Chippenham BID manager, said: “It’s about getting involved, it’s about coming along and taking part.

“With the fancy dress, it’s about the kids, the families, the mums and dads, aunties and uncles.

“Actually coming along and taking part in the event and getting the best out of the event and enjoying what Chippenham has to offer.”

The Mad Hatter appeared on the main stage located in the Market Place throughout the day, and the Easter bunny was also hopping around the Emery Gate Shopping Centre presenting children with chocolate eggs and having pictures taken with them.

Emery Gate Shopping Centre manager, Nicola Milne, said: “We really want to see more Chippenham Connected events in the town, it’s been really busy and I’m really impressed with the amount of footfall that we have had through the doors.

“The children at the craft table have been really enjoying making their Easter crafts and it’s been really nice seeing the mayor involved and all the businesses with their window displays.”
