NICK Horrocks is hoping to quickly get into the swing of things after becoming the new pro at Chippenham Golf Club.

The 36-year-old recently joined the club after previous professional, Bill Creamer, retired last month after almost 40 years working in the club shop.

After turning pro in 2002 at the age of 22, Mr Horrocks was a member of Thurlestone Golf Club, Devon, before moving to clubs in Essex and Plymouth and eventually head professional at Staddon Heights Golf Club.

He has competed on the European Challenge Tour and Europro tour, winning various Pro-ams and individual events as well as The South West Winter foursomes in 2014.

“My dad, Paul, was a member of a golf club so it all started with me joining him and like anybody else I wanted to win the masters but I never managed it,” said Mr Horrocks, who has been married to his wife, Emily, for six years. The couple have two children together, Charlie, aged eight, and three-year-old Isaac.

“We’ve been living here literally a month but I’m really enjoying the job and the area.

“From a personal perspective it’s a great golf club with great facilities.”

Mr Horrocks has spent time training alongside major winner Danny Willett and Henrik Stenson's coach, Pete Cowen, and hopes to improve the club shop in the future.

“I have many exciting plans for the future at the club and I am also very positive at the opportunities that the role presents and look forward to providing a host of services that are second to none,” he added.

“These services are to include a retail shop that competes with the leading high street and internet retailers. We also boast the most comprehensive custom fitting service in the area.”
