HUNDREDS of people came from far and wide to visit this year’s Foxham Horse Show which once again raised thousands of pounds for charity.

The annual event, which was being held for the 29th time, saw more than a hundred dogs and 250 horses take part in a range of different events throughout the day on Saturday, including horse jumping and also a Grand National race for ponies.

There was also marquees for stalls selling jams and spices, crafts, produce and photos as well as a raffle with prizes including tickets to the Olympia Horse Show, cricket match and dog and horse food amongst other things.

“It was fantastic, we had an amazing day,” said organiser Michelle Hanson.

“We were very lucky with the weather as it stayed dry and had very positive comments from people that they had a fabulous time.

“It attracts people from a wide radius who keep coming back and there are things for everyone.

“We haven’t counted the total yet but the money we have raised for charity is in the region of five to six thousand pounds.”

Charities to benefit from the money include Dorothy House, Julia’s House, Greatwood – which cares for horses and rehomes them – Dog’s Trust, Wiltshire Air Ambulance and RABI (Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution), as well as Foxham’s church, reading club and parish magazine.
