GUITARS, watches and vases were just some of the items brought in for a charity valuation day held at Chippenham’s Julian House and supported by TV valuation expert, Marc Allum.

Residents of Chippenham were able to bring their old family heirlooms to the store, located on Market Place, and have them valued for £2 by Mr Allum and his wife, Lisa Lloyd.

Held from 11am on Saturday (July 9), a total of £165 was raised for the charity which supports homeless people.

“It was a really good day, there was a good crowd of people and there was a nice steady trickle which just kept on coming along,” said Mr Allum, who is an expert on BBC One programme Antiques Roadshow.

“There was a really lovely vintage Gibson guitar, a Japanese okimono and netsuke and Omega military wrist watch from the Second World War.

“Lots of people there were on a bit of a mission and it was well supported by people.

“We weren’t talking values so much we were talking about history and family history with people who wanted to come out and have a chat.”

Stephen Chesworth, community and events fundraiser for Julian House in Wiltshire, said: “We are very thankful to Marc Allum and Lisa Lloyd for their support and effort on our valuation day, and for sparing their valuable time to help Julian House.

“We not only had a lot of people in to see Marc and Lisa, but many others came in to look around the shop and buy items.”
