MORE THAN £1,000 has been raised for Macmillan Cancer Support by a group of young girls in Castle Combe.

Young fundraisers Lola Roberts and Freya Cleverly, both 11, from Sheldon School, and Eliza Roberts and Ayla Ossorio Griffiths, both nine, from Bybrook Valley School, organised an Elvis evening and buffet supper to raise the money.

The evening, at the Castle Combe Village Hall, saw Elvis tribute artist Al Duncan perform live. Barry Hussey, of the Royal Oak pub in Pewsey, provided a free buffet for all 60 guests to support the charitable cause.

Mum Anna Roberts said: “I contacted Barry to see if he could help with the catering but had no idea what a wonderful buffet he was going to supply, or how generous he would prove to be.

“I thank the Castle Inn and Manor House Hotel of Castle Combe, together with Patricia Meakins Photography for their donations of prizes for our lucky dip raffle which raised £300. It was a fabulous evening, such fun, great food and entertainment and helped raise lots of funds for Macmillan to help people in the community affected by cancer.”
