PEOPLE in Chippenham will get a chance to give their views at the annual town meeting on April 22.

It is not a town council meeting, but an opportunity for electors to ask questions and hear reports on what has been happening in their town.

Deputy mayor David Powell will provide an update on work done by the town council, in particular working with the town’s primary schools to involve children in local democracy.

Carolyn Brownell, manager of the Chippenham Business Improvement District, will explain what they will be doing in the town centre over the next five years, and community organisation Rubbish Walks will talk about their campaign to reduce litter and encourage residents to join in the clean-up.

Chief executive Sue Wilthew said: “This is your town so please do come along to the meeting to have your say. Your views matter.

“There is the opportunity to ask questions during the electors’ question time session. We will do our best to answer those questions at the meeting but if written questions could be sent to us beforehand, that would be useful.”

This year’s meeting is at the Town Hall on Wednesday April 22 at 6.30pm.
