An after-school club for children with learning disabilities in Chippenham has received a major donation from house builders Redrow.

Redrow’s Bristol-based South West division raised more than £66,000 last year, its 40th year in business, with £42,000 going to Chippenham charity ASK St Nicholas.

The charity runs an after-school club for St Nicholas School, which teaches pupils with learning disabilities from ages three to 19. It provides care, recreation and education for children out of school hours.

Peter Whitby, from ASK St Nicholas, said: “The money helps us with transport and to give the kids more entertainment like sports coaches and magicians.

“What I have always said when thanking Redrow is that we could not run the club without them. They have raised around £100,000 in the last three years.”

Redrow has supported the charity for several years, with staff taking on fundraising sporting challenges ranging from darts tournaments to the Taunton Half and London Marathons.

Staff also got involved with a charity car wash, the ice bucket challenge and a parachute jump.

Hannah Pollard, sales director for Redrow (South West), said: “We had fantastic fun at the office and our developments around the South West while raising money and awareness for important causes.

“All of the charities we chose to support had a personal link for a member of staff, which gave us further incentive to go the extra mile.

“I’d like to say a big thank you to all of our dedicated staff who put themselves out of their comfort zone and donated time for the causes.”
