A new farmers' market will be launched in Chippenham this Sunday, October 13.

This will be the first of regular second Sunday monthly farmers' markets to be held on the High Street from 10am until 2pm.

The market will feature fresh local produce, often picked or prepared within 24 hours of the market.

Stalls booked so far include vegetables, breads, cheeses, preserves, cakes, meats, meat products and pies.

Subject to a licence there will also be hand-made cider with vintage cyser, a type of mead, and English wines.

The market has strong local support from businesses, the public and the town council, who see this as a real boost for Sunday on the High Street and the town generally.

Melody Thompson of Cherish Chippenham said: “We are delighted to be sponsoring the Wiltshire Farmers Market in Chippenham. It’s providing a great addition to the town centre, offering high quality truly traceable local food from local producers.”

Sue Thomson, the markets’ administrator, said it was really gratifying to offer people a leaflet only to be told that they already know about and are looking forward to the market.

Leaflets carry an entry form for the free entry Hamper Draw to celebrate the first market, also available at the market on the day.

Chippenham will be the twelfth location under the Wiltshire Farmers' Markets Association (WFMA) banner. All markets draw producer-traders from Wiltshire and a roughly 30 mile radius.
