THE final curtain fell at Cherhill Primary School as two year groups completed their final performance of Dick Whittington in front of a full house of adoring parents.

Pupils from Year 3 and 4 began rehearsing for the three performances several weeks ago and teacher Kirsty Burridge praised them for their hard work and dedication.

She said: "We did our last performance last night (Thursday) and they definitely saved their best until last! They were word perfect and everything went just brilliantly.

"We had a full house which was fabulous to see and it was a really enjoyable last performance of many, many weeks of hard work."

The performance is part of a new initiative to get the two year groups back on stage in the hopes of enriching the 7-8 year-olds curriculum and their performances in front the school and in front of two sets of parents were hailed as a success.

She added: "For some of the 58 children, it was pretty challenging to learn so many words but they really enjoyed it and they were just stupendous. Every single one of them, even the children who didn't want to have a speaking part, rose to the challenge and got their faces painted and took part. It was great to see and a great success."
