EXCITMENT is building in Calne ahead of the annual Spring Sing event as organisers confirm a packed programme of free events including a performance from the Warminster Military Wives Choir.

The day of music will start at 10.30am on April 8, with performances across the town, and ends with the choirs and audiences uniting for a big sing finale at 3pm in Phelps Parade.

Event organiser Tracy Howell, of Calne Town Council, said: “Calne Spring Sing is now in its fourth year, and it is always a joy to welcome so many passionate and talented choirs to our town. We are thrilled that Warminster Military Wives Choir will be joining the programme this year and hope the audience and choirs have the opportunity to enjoy them.”

The Warminster Wives Choir, who will be performing at the Town Hall from 12.30pm-1pm, have previously played at Carnegie Hall in New York and recorded a single for the national Military Wives Home for Christmas album, which reached number two in the classical music charts last year.

She added: “All are invited to join in The Big Sing Finale at 3pm, which is always a spectacle and heart-warming for all who take part. This year we will be singing Perfect Day by Lou Reed and Love My Life by Robbie Williams, with the words available for members of the public.”
