IN a bid to break the Guinness World Record for the largest ever Christmas nativity scene Calne Town Council are calling on residents to muck in and volunteer as marshals for the big day.

The council have planned to have around 2000 people dressed in full costume attend the nativity and need an additional 40 marshals to see over the event on December 3.

Town clerk Linda Roberts, said: “The events in Calne have been growing and getting bigger and better and we are always thinking of innovating ways to make them more attractive.

“We need extra marshals, anyone who wants to come along is welcome and any training or information will be provided to them.

“If they sign-up they would be helping us on the night and would be responsible for 50 people in the nativity.

“The Guinness World Records have set that it needs to be one marshal per 50 people in the bid to break the record.”

Call the town council to join up on 01249 814 000.
