MORE than three years of fundraising efforts have finally been rewarded in Goatacre with the completion of new marque-style drapes in the village hall.

The village hall committee has spent years raising the £5,000 needed to spruce up the hall into what they hope will become a premier space for customers.

Leaflet drops to encourage bookings, a Halloween party for children and a charity supper back in the Spring have all helped raise the money to give the hall a much-needed lift.

The newly fitted drapes can be cream or blue, the colours of Goatacre CC, and can be put up or taken down as and when required.

Bar and lettings manager at the hall Faye Meakin said: “We have gone all guns blazing to raise as much as we can and we have been successful and done it.

“I have been on the committee for three years and the drapes have been on the minutes for all that time and could been longer

“It’s absolutely stunning, I walked in and thought ‘Wow’, it was like a different hall. Before it looked like a village hall but it’s a proper venue now, when you walk into the hall it like you’re in a marquee.

“We needed to invest the money into something that would bring in more money and things are ongoing but hopefully it will really benefit the community.”

The village hall committee has ambitious plans for the hall and hope that its new look will bring enough bookings to allow them to invest in more refurbishments around the hall.
