A DRIVER who got his car stuck in a cow field near the Cherhill white horse this week has advised police he simply lost his way.
Calne Police, responding to a call on Tuesday morning (August 11) of an abandoned car near the Cherhill monument, found the vehicle had bottomed out on a public byway.
The driver of the car, which was left securely locked and full of fishing gear, was tracked to an address in Calne later the same morning and found safe and well.
He advised attending officers that he had gone for a drive up to the monument but had subsequently got lost in the dark and slid down a bank before his car bottomed out.
Officers advised the driver to make contact with the land owner in order to have his car removed from the field.
