CALNE Police are investigating a series of attacks on cars in Anchor Road, Dakota Drive and near Sandpit Road on one night.

The mirrored glass was removed from the wing mirrors of 11 vehicles in Anchor Road between Friday night and Saturday morning.

A range of car manufacturers were hit by the spate of vandalism including Jeep, Ford, Mercedes, Vauxhall, Mazda, MG, Mitsubishi and Fiat.

PCSO Mark Cook said: “I am unsure why anyone would want to cause mindless damage to people, leaving them with expensive repair bills.

“It’s very unusual to get this much damage on a single night and we are keen to hear from anyone with any information on the people responsible.”

Several pieces of the mirrored glass were recovered from the scene and have been sent for forensic examination.

On Dakota Drive, between Friday and Monday, gravel asphalt was thrown at a vehicle causing damage to the body and paintwork.

A compound of stored vehicles, including a caravan, in a field near Sandpit Road also fell victim to the series of attacks with windscreens and wing mirrors being smashed over the weekend.

The police are looking at the events as connected and are set to increase patrols around the town throughout this Friday evening and over the weekend.
