FUNDRAISERS in Calne have presented a cheque for £5000 to the Forever Friends Appeal for a new cancer centre at the RUH in Bath.

The four friends, Anita Hodgson, Tina Mead, Jayne Gaffney and Sharon Ramsay have organized two sell-out black tie events, a golf day and a ladies pamper evening.

Mrs Ramsay said: “It is such a worthy charity and having had a cancer scare myself I wanted to help, so many people are affected by cancer and it is nice to be able to help raise funds for this, our local hospital.”

The group began fundraising for the Appeal following Mrs Hodgson’s husband Andy’s treatment for cancer at the RUH.

She said: “As with all things in life, your friends are your best supporters. These ladies have all worked enormously hard.”

The group’s held a Hollywood ball at North Wilts Golf Club in October 2013 to raise money, an event they repeated with the It’s Magic Ball a year later.

Other events held included a ladies pamper evening at Marden House and a charity golf day at North Wilts Golf Club in March 2014.

Community Fundraiser at The Forever Friends Appeal, Lydia McGivern, said: “We cannot thank Anita, Jayne, Sharon and Tina enough for all that they have done in fundraising for us.

“Their dedication and commitment to helping the RUH Cancer Care Campaign has been phenomenal and I cannot wait to see what amazing events they will organize in the future.”
