Two men were arrested last week after Calne police located what they believe to be Class A drugs at a property in the town.

A 33-year-old and a 48-year-old were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply following the execution of a drug warrant and were taken to Melksham police custody suite.

Both men have since been bailed to allow for further inquiries.

Using information from the community, police attended the property in Cornflower Close at around 6.30am last Wednesday with partner agency Sovereign Housing.

Sergeant Ben Huggins said: “The execution of this warrant was based on community concerns regarding individuals and activity at the premises. The two males who have been arrested are of significant interest to us, and we will now look to work with our partner agencies, such as Sovereign Housing, to ensure that the community is restored to a calm and peaceful manner.

“I would like to thank those members of the community who assisted police during this investigation, and I hope it goes some way to showing that we do act on community concerns.”

As well as the substances, a quantity of cash and various items of drug paraphernalia were also located.

One neighbour said: “It’s about time, it’s long overdue.

“There’s been so much noise in the evenings it’s been horrendous. I hope they get it sorted.”

Sovereign Housing attended the address to assess the condition and gain any evidence in relation to a possible termination of the residents' tenancy agreement.
