Donald Keighly of Hungerford Road, Calne, sent in this lovely photograph of his wife and her friends performing in the St Paul’s School play in 1941.
Mr Keighly said: “My wife is the little girl (Rita Joan Hart) in the middle of the photograph.
“She became my wife on August 17, 1957, at St Paul’s Church in Chippenham.
“I do not know the names of the boys but perhaps your readers may know them?
“In September 1940 the Hart family, consisting of Frederick Arthur and Elsie Violet Hart (called Desna) plus five children (Jeanne, Malcolm, Vincent, Thelma and Rita) were evacuated from Hastings to Chippenham.
“Arriving late, they were placed in the Gaumont or Astoria cinemas.
“Many helpers, including voluntary nurses, handed out tea, sandwiches and blankets to the evacuees and the Chippenham town clerk Mr A Strand took on the new role of a waiter for the night or early morning.
“It was almost 3am before they finally settled down.
The following day the family was walked around the streets of Chippenham by the local billeting officer and placed with four separate families. The family did not live all together ever again.”
