ELDERLY residents of Avon Court in Chippenham celebrated Valentines Day with a difference this year -by inviting some very strange guests.

Pets Corner, from Longleat Animal Park, brought a python, a chinchilla and two ferrets for a Valentines Day celebration with a twist.

Activities coordinator at the home Leila Garraway said: "The residents had a really good time. The whole of the home was buzzing all day.

"They got to hold and stroke the animals, it was fantastic. We would defiantly consider doing it again.

"There wasn't one favourite among the residents, although the fully grown snake was quite popular."

As many of the residents in the home do not have partners organisers decided to make Valentines Day a happy event.

Ms Garraway said: "People were packed into the conservatory. It was a lovely way for the residents to spend the day."

Pets Corner, of BBC Animal Park fame, can be found in Longleat Animal Park.

The attraction offers close access to snakes, rabbits, guinea pigs and even wallabies.
