The fans thronged outisde the barricaded entrance to the village trying to catch a glimpse of the sixth film in the series.

Scores of hopeful children lined the crash barriers on the High Street as the crew prepared for scenes which show Harry being prusued along the road.

One family had even travelled from Australia when they heard about the three-day shoot.

Among the fans at the barriers was 12-year-old Jason Doe from Salisbury.

"It's really exciting," he said. "I love Harry Potter and I really want to meet Daniel Radcliffe. I can't wait to see the film."

Security guards were ordered to stop anyone from photographing or videoing the film shoot.
