Vocalist Vanessa Lafaye, who is setting up a community choir for Marlborough, wants to hear from singers who normally only practise in the bath.

She says everyone is welcome, regardless of ability and music reading skills, and has promised there will be no auditions.

Ms Lafaye said everyone has a natural singing voice, even if it is not up to choral society or professional stan- dards.

She said: “I want to hear from people who are convinced that their voice is fit only for the privacy of the shower cubicle or from members of a local choral or operatic society who would like to try informal singing.”

Ms Lafaye said many people enjoy singing but, because they do not read music or fear an audition, they miss out on singing in a choir.

“Whatever your experience or musical background, you are invited to join,” said Ms Lafaye who lives in the town.

The choir is part of the natural voice movement which was set up to encourage more people to enjoy singing, regardless of how they sound.

Marlborough Community Choir will be launched on November 3, at 7.30pm, in the Bear Hotel although there will be free taster sessions at the pub on Wednesdays October 13 and 20.
