RURAL communities in Wiltshire could get a share of a £50,000 grant to improve life in their village.

Grants of between £1,000 and £5,000 will be made to 21 different schemes from the Calor Rural Community fund.

A spokesman said: "Established in 2017, the fund aims to give off-grid communities the chance to gain funding for projects that will improve local life.

Paul Blacklock, Calor’s head of corporate affairs, said: “As off-grid energy providers we are passionate about country living and the success of last year’s scheme has shown us the tangible impact that the Calor Rural Community Fund has had on communities."

Applications can be made via the Calor website www.calor.co.uk/communityfund until May 21. Accepted projects will be published online so people can vote before finalists are shortlisted.
