MANAGERS at Italian chain restaurant Prezzo in Chippenham and Marlborough say it is business as usual at the eateries, following that news that the chain is set to close 100 of its high street stores.

News of the company's bid to launch a Company Voluntary Arrangement came to light today, as senior management work to save the entire business.

Up to 100 restaurants could close as a result of the move to restructure the firm's finances and up to a third of staff could be at risk of losing their jobs.

There are a total of 300 restaurants across the UK and the company employs around 4,500 people.

Cermen Deaz, manager at the Marlborough branch on the High Street, said: "We have not heard anything yet, I have only read what everyone else has read. They have not said how many might shut or which ones could go so we are continuing as normal."

The manager of the Chippenham branch, on New Road, added that while they had not heard any official notification of the sale, their restaurants were still open for business and welcoming customers.
