DEVELOPERS hoping to convert a barn into a five bedroomed home have had their plan rejected for a second time.
Plans for Big Barn on Wootton Fields Farm in Royal Wootton Bassett were submitted for approval in June last year but were rejected by Wiltshire council.
Applicant Jeremy Collett appealed the decision which has now been investigated by the Planning Inspectorate.
The plan was rejected for a second time because the proposed house would have been larger than the accepted size for conversions. Planning approval has already been granted to build two houses on the site of North Barn, also in the grounds of the farm.
Despite entering revised, smaller plans, the inspectorate assessed the initial application and found that when considered together with the barn conversion for two more houses, the development would be larger than the 450smq limit on conversions.
During the appeal process a resident also objected to the plans on the grounds that the extra house would increase traffic pulling onto Marlborough Road which has a 60mph speed limit.
