Broughton Gifford’s new pre-school should be ready after Christmas thanks to a final grant of £14,000 from Community First and The Hills Group Limited.
After nearly 50 years the pre-school will be moving from the village hall to land near St Mary’s School and be named in memory of play leader Ros Tyre who died of cancer a few
years ago.
A grant of £30,000 was awarded by Wiltshire Council to fund the new building and £14,000 was made available through the Landfill Communities Fund, administered for Hills by Community First, the Rural Community Council for Wiltshire.
Fairs, quizzes and raffles were also held and the pre-school’s treasurer Sherrie Harrington did a parachute jump.
The log cabin will have three rooms and enough space for 20 children for each session. It has been hailed a great addition for the village and children.
Chairman of Broughton Gifford Pre-School committee, Val Wilkinson said it was going to be a lovely place for the children to use.
