More than 150 walkers joined Mayor of Devizes Kelvin Nash on Devizes Lions Club’s 30th sponsored walk over Roundway Down on Sunday – and raised thousands of pounds.

Coun Nash cut the tape to send the walkers, who were raising sponsorship for 29 local good causes, on their ten-mile hike up Quakers Walk into Roundway village, then up to the top of Roundway Hill and back.

Walkers encountered thick fog along the way.

He was joined on the walk by the Lions Club’s president, John Harris.

The total raised from the walk is expected to exceed £6,000, which will be handed to the groups at a town hall presentation next month.
