Devizes based charity Bag4Sport is hoping its new link with the town’s Round Table is to get off to an explosive start.

Devizes Round Table has pledged to give profits from this year’s fireworks display at Devizes Football Club in Nursteed Road on Sunday, November 4, to the charity.

Round Table chairman Alex Glover said: “Andy Trusler from Bag4Sport came to speak to us about the charity and we all felt it would be good to be involved in a locally based charity that has so many exciting fundraising events coming up.

“A few of our members had already been involved by doing a cycle ride and so it seemed a good choice. We really believe in its aim of raising money to help grass root sport.”

The amount likely to be raised by the firework display is heavily weather dependent but Mr Glover hopes it will be a few thousand pounds. He said: “We are very lucky because most of our costs are covered by advertising from local firms in our firework brochure so most of the gate money can go to charity. If the weather is good it could be as much as £3,000.”

Charity director Mr Trusler said: “We are very pleased to get this support from Devizes Round Table and think it can be a very exciting link for the future as well.”

Tickets for the fireworks cost £3 in advance or £4 on the gate and are on sale at many independent shops in the town including Hillworth Stores, Ducks Newsagents, Devizes Toys and Brittox News.
