Staff at companies on the West Wilts Trading Estate were turned away from work this morning after a major fire incident at the Westbury site.
A major fire broke out at the J P Jones scrapyard at 9.15pm on Broadway North and, due to explosions emitting from gas cylinders, police immediately operated a cordon.
It was still in place this morning at Engineer Road, Chemical Road and Victory Road, as well as Broadway North, and no access will be allowed to staff whose business premises are on any of those roads until fire officers have declared the area safe.
The cause of the fire is not yet known but it took six fire engines and 40 firefighters to tackle the blaze in a workshop at the scrapyard.
