A 57-year-old man was airlifted to hospital with head injuries he received in a parachuting accident in Everleigh on Sunday.
The man, who has not been named but is thought to be a member of the armed services, suffered the injuries in a parachute landing at the Everleigh drop zone on Salisbury Plain at around 3pm on Sunday.
Because of the isolated location, a land ambulance could not reach him so the air ambulance, based at police headquarters in Devizes, was despatched.
The man’s spine was immobilised for the eight-minute flight to Salisbury District Hospital, which has a specialist spine unit. His condition is not known.
