I was disappointed to read in last week’s Gazette that Marlborough Town Council is unwilling to support our local children’s school, preferring a relief road.
In hard economic times Dr Patrick Hazlewood needs support and credit for creating an exceptional school for our local children.
Certainly it would have been preferable not to have needed to sell off some of the school’s site but the economics required this.
Our local schools are not richly endowed with sports facilities in the way that some independent schools are, but should not our children be offered the same advantage and be supported by our elected town council?
Martin Thomas, Barrow Close, Marlborough Council.
