Dennis and Joyce Rogers, of Redhouse, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary at the Angel Hotel in Wootton Bassett, where they held their reception.
The couple, who attend St Bartholomew’s church where they were wed, are thrilled the Angel was re-opened in time to for their blue saphire anniversary.
Mrs Rogers, 86, and Mr Rogers, 85, met on a train when Joyce was returning from a holiday in Cornwall with her father, Wootton Bassett Police Sgt Read.
They lived in Wootton Bassett for many years where Mr Rogers was a member of the retained fire brigade. He also succeeded his father-in-law as town photographer.
He worked at Moredon Power Station before joining The Dairy (Unigate) at Wootton Bassett, and later at Wells.
The couple returned to Wootton Bassett on retirement where Mr Rogers rebuilt the church clock in 1957.
They have two sons, two grandchildren and a great grandson.
