Teenage tearaway Jordan Sweetlove has been jailed for six months for a range of offences including theft, burglary and breach of an anti- social behaviour order.

Father-of-one Sweetlove, 19, whose address was given as Falcon Road, Calne, was jailed at North Wiltshire Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

He had admitted burglary earlier this month, stealing keys to a Volkswagen Golf from a property in Calne, before making off in the VW, in the early hours of March 5.

He also pleaded guilty to the theft of a Tom Tom satellite navigation system from another vehicle on the same night, when his house keys were found inside the car.

Sweetlove had originally pleaded not guilty to driving without a licence and without insurance, claiming an accomplice had driven the Volkswagen. But he changed his pleas to guilty on both counts on Monday.

He also admitted breaking the terms of an ASBO in December by being involved with a motorbike, which is prohibited by the order.

Sweetlove has been remanded in custody since he was arrested by police on March 5.

Andy Lee, defending, asked for a suspended sentence. He claimed that Sweetlove, who is planning to move to Devizes with his girlfriend and their five-month-old daughter, had changed his attitude since being remanded in custody.

But magistrates decided he should face a six-month stretch inside, as well as being banned from driving for six months.

Magistrate Janet Morgan told him he was being sent to prison for a total of 26 weeks.

PC Emma Reed, acting sergeant of Calne Police, welcomed the sentence. She said: “The punishment is justified for all of the anti-social behaviour and the many offences he has committed over the period of a number of years.”
