After a nine-year-campaign by parish councillor Noel Maskell, work has started on a safe footpath for people living in Upavon’s Riverside Park which avoids the busy A345 Pewsey-Salisbury Road.
Coun Maskell himself lives at Riverside, a park home estate on the Pewsey side of Upavon and outside the 30mph limit.
The first phase is complete but the campaigners say they need another £20,000 to finish it.
Pensioner Jean Mundy, said: “The path so far is a great start but it badly needs finishing.”
