A woodland walk where generations of bereaved people will be able to reflect quietly on their loved ones has been planted in a disused part of Devizes Cemetery.
Devizes town council worked with the Woodland Trust and the Royal Horticultural Society to plant 420 British native species on Sunday.
Town mayor Pete Smith was among the party that took part in the planting.
Deputy town clerk Simon Fisher said that the idea for the woodland walk had come up after town council parks staff cleared the neglected area of the cemetery.
He said: “It was overgrown and people had been throwing their compost there over the years.
“People who visit the cemetery will hopefully be able to have five minutes reflection in a quiet area.”
