Wiltshire Wildlife Trust is calling on people to help them out with an unusual project – counting Calne’s butterflies.
Volunteers are needed at Morgan’s Hill nature reserve, where projects have been carried out in recent years to expand the land available for wildlife.
The trust wants to monitor any changes in the butterfly population since the work.
Among the butterflies found at Morgan’s Hill are the rare Duke of Burgundy and Marsh Fritillary. Other chalk grassland specialists include the Adonis Blue , the paler Chalkhill Blue, and the Marbled White, which has striking black and white wings.
