CHIPPENHAM teenager Jesse Nash is going for gold after his film was chosen to be screened at the Cultural Olympiad during the London 2012 games.
The Wiltshire College student, 18, is behind Sparking the Flame, a short film about a young athlete training for Olympic glory.
It won the Best Fiction prize (17 to 19-year-olds) at the Film Nation: Shorts Awards 2010 in Birmingham.
Mr Nash, of Langley Burrell, is in his second year of a National Diploma of Media course at Wiltshire College.
He said: “It’s been a very exciting time for me.
“I’ve just finished work on another short film, which is about twins with different lives.
“I’d love to be able to go on to university and end up working in films.
I just need to work hard and get the grades.”
The student’s latest film features one twin as a basketball star, and one as a petty criminal.
“I was very lucky on this film because some twins came forward quite quickly to get involved,” he said. “It’s about showing the struggle that teenagers have when it comes to making choices today.”
Mr Nash hopes to study film production at either Bournemouth or a London university.
His film will also be showcased on the London 2012 big screens around the country.
Mr Nash has also won a place on a 3D film-making masterclass at Pinewood Studios.
