I would like to make comment on the ridiculous situation that has been allowed to develop over the innocuous remark made by Mrs Farquhar in August.

The phrase jungle drums is still used by most people in normal conversation and could never be considered to be racist.

On the contrary, one could even consider it to be a compliment to the African people for their very innovative form of communication.

I am sure that Sonia Carr is an intelligent person and has probably lived here all her 50 years and should realise that this sort of complaint does nothing to help her cause.

This is PC taken, once again, too far.

I feel it totally wrong that Mrs Farquhar should have been made to apologise and for the council to have taken up the complaint.

If this type of remark causes so much distress to Mrs Carr, then she needs to reconsider her position on the Racial Equality Council. Once again, a total waste of time and money when both are valuable commodities of the council in the present economic climate.
