Wiltshire Racial Equality Council believes that we all need to be careful and sensitive when using words or phrases that others may find offensive if we wish to be effective communicators.
This is particularly important for the Wiltshire Involvement Network which consults with a wide variety of culturally diverse user groups on health and social care services across Wiltshire.
We therefore support and value the contribution that our vice chairman, Sonia Carr, has made in highlighting the use of culturally inappropriate language and views at recent meetings of the Wiltshire Involvement Network.
We trust therefore that following a supportive review by Wiltshire Council the Wiltshire Involvement Network, will improve its anti- discriminatory practice for the benefit of all communities living and working in Wiltshire.
Stephen Carey, Chairman, Wiltshire Racial Equality Council, Stallard Street, Trowbridge.
