Gifted and talented children from primary schools across Chippenham took on a challenge day at Sheldon school last week.
Pupils from the town’s ten schools gifted in French and PE were invited to Sheldon to take part in French games, such as handball, and had treats including pain au chocolat on their breaks.
Language college programme manager Sheila Small, who helped co-ordinate the day, said: “As well as playing French playground games, the pupils had a French-themed lunch and spent some time in our ICT suite.”
At the end of the day, the visitors each received certificates for their hard work from headteacher Gerard MacMahon.
Gifted pupils are usually defined as having special abilities in academic subjects, while talented pupils are said to excel in practical areas.
