Pupils from Devizes School will be making an attempt on the world’s longest string of bunting as they raise awareness for Fairtrade goods.

It is part of the town’s Fairtrade Fortnight, designed to increase awareness for the movement that aims to get a fair deal for producers in the Third World, particularly West Africa and India.

The pupils will be decorating cotton flags with messages about Fairtrade and the finished result will go on show at the Fairtrade Fair in the Corn Exchange on Saturday March 5, which launches the fortnight.

Claire Perry MP will open the fair at 10.30am and there will be cookery demonstrations using Fairtrade ingredients by Peter Vaughan of the Bistro at 11am and 2pm.

Entry is free.

There will be a Fairtrade fashion show in the town hall on Wednesday March 9 when models from Devizes School will show some fashions from around the world.

Tickets, £3, are on sale at Devizes Books.
