Teachers at Corsham School have paid tribute to former pupil Jennifer Dietschmann who died on February 1 aged 19.

Miss Dietschmann, who grew up in Corsham, had moved to Ayr Close, Chippenham, with boyfriend Mat Thomas and baby girl Ava.

Janet Grant, who was Miss Dietschmann’s personal tutor for five years, said: “She worked hard to transform herself into a bright, young woman. I remember in Year 9 we went to Morocco on a school trip and she found it very difficult because we did a lot of trekking but she just kept at it and rose to the occasion.

“Seeing her riding a donkey in Morocco is a funny memory which I shall keep. But what I will remember most is watching her on the Year 11 leaving day and seeing how she had developed. She worked hard to create that.”

Her German teacher, Louise Holden, said: “We are absolutely devastated. I am sure she would have a made a success of her life. I taught her for four years. She was very keen to learn German because she had a cultural connection with her grandfather. She went on a number of exchanges to Berlin with me.”

English teacher Anna Woodhouse said: “She had a great sense of humour and strong friendships. It is just devastating. I can’t comprehend that she’s gone.”

English teacher Anna Woodhouse said: “She had a great sense of humour and strong friendships. It is just devastating. I was so proud of what she achieved. I can’t comprehend that she’s gone. “She was really very brilliant and she had wanted to go into teaching herself one day.

“My best memory of her was at the sixth form leaving party and she came to me and thanked me for everything. She recognised the importance of her education and that was the sort of person she was.”

Her funeral will be held at noon on February 18 in Corsham Town Hall.

Her mother Sue Dietschmann, a health visitor in Swindon, said: “We will have a celebration of her life and friends and family will record their memories. We will play her favourite songs.
