I received a two-page letter from a public body advising that I had made an overpayment and that a refund would be made shortly. I was pleased to hear this so soon after Christmas.
A two-page letter duly arrived with a rundown of how the refund had been arrived at. A cheque was enclosed and I was staggered to see that the eagerly awaited amount was 11 pence.
Was this princely sum worth two letters and four pages of script? I don’t think so.
