A wanted Calne man has been tracked down by police after a public appeal in the Gazette and Herald.

John Robert Lynch was wanted on a number of drug and driving charges and police had appealed for information concerning his whereabouts.

He was then tracked to a property in Brinkworth, on Friday, January 7, after information was given to police by members of the public.

Sergeant Phil Connor, of Calne Police, said: “As a direct result of the public appeal and working within the community we received some information that enabled us to investigate this individual being at an address in the Brinkworth area.

“He was at that property and police were able to attend the scene and make an arrest within 30 minutes of the information becoming available.

“I would like to thank the public and the Gazette and Herald for their help in tracking down this individual.”

Lynch was arrested and charged with eight offences including dangerous driving, having no insurance and failing to stop when ordered to by police, in relation to an incident on November 7.

He was also charged with possession of seven wraps of heroin, in relation to an incident on September 30.

At North Wiltshire Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, January 8, the case was adjourned until March 25, until when Lynch has been granted bail.
