Councillors have agreed to the creation of a new children’s burial area in Devizes Cemetery.
Space is running out in the existing children’s area with only two grave spaces remaining.
At a meeting last week Devizes and Roundway joint burial committee agreed for a new area to be set aside. It is close to the existing area in the older part of the cemetery.
Officers will draw up plans for the layout of the area. It will also offer the opportunity for families to be buried alongside their children, as is already the case.
Simon Fisher, deputy town clerk of Devizes, said: “There is a triangular piece of land in the older part of the cemetery which would work very well for a children’s area.”
