A pamper day at a Marlborough clinic that specialises in alternative therapies raised more than £630 for Help for Heroes.

Nearly 50 people took the opportunity of being pampered and preened to help the charity.

It was held at the Wellbeing Clinic in London Road which invited people tro try out some of the many therapies on offer which include massage, reflexology and Reiki healing as well as manicures and pedicures, Indian head massage and bio-dynamic massage, a Norwegian therapy that helps unblock tensions in the body,.

Treatments were carried out by the ten therapists based at the centre.

The clinic extended its invitation, thanks to an article in the Gazette.

The team were kept busy throughout the day by people wanting to try the therapies on offer.

Tricia Hornby, who does massage therapy and healing, said the event had been an unprecendented success, to the delight of everyone at the clinic. “We had about 50 people coming through the door including people from as far away as Malmesbury thanks to the Gazette,” she said.

The treatments were given in return for a donation of £20.

Mrs Hornby said: “This is the first time we have done it and we were really, really pleased with the support.

“We are thinking of doing it again, possibly for Help for Heroes another year, but certainly for four other charities we have in mind including cancer charities.”

The full list of the various therapies available at the clinic can be found on its website : wwwthewelbeing clinic.org n Women at Curves in Chippenham will be swapping pounds for pounds this Christmas..

For every pound the exercise bunnies lose in weight, the gym will donate £1 to our appeal, but for every pound gained, the ladies themselves will spend the money.
